Andrew Jervis EP#2 for Mr Burey is equally as satisfying as #1, as he casually croons his way through string-laden ditties recalling Callier, Stepney, Drake, Walker et al. Favorite track: You Won't Even Dream.

Christopher Moklebust Family Stone is like a brisk consolidation of Pink Floyd and Radio Head, with a little early King Crimson thrown in for good measure. I've listened to Alex Burey's first EP "Inside World" but found it to be... so full as to sound...clogged, I suppose. It has some layering issues. But Family Stone definitely shows a bit more discipline. I'm not quite sure Burey has found his voice yet - the vocals still need some work. But I couldn't pass up this EP. Favorite track: Family Stone.

Inspired by the production work of Charles Stepney and the magic of intimacy that you find in the work of Terry Callier, Scott Walker & Devendra Banhart, the ’Family Stone EP' was written & produced by Alex Burey in his tiny home studio in South London, UK. The four tracks are mixed by Neil Comber (MIA, Django Django).

Bringing the warmth of psychedelic soul together with the detail and instrumentation of 70s folk, ‘Family Stone’ weaves poignant tales of family life with Alex's never-ending search for moments of euphoria amidst the barren fringes of suburban London.

Moving quickly between the genres of jazz, this album is buoyant and fun. The guests are a great addition thought the band can carry the album alone. It’s good rainy day music and good sunshine music. The cassette is functional but the design is not interesting; I’d recommend vinyl or digital, though there is warmth to the cassette’s sound. dudgrickbevins
